Mykaboom [maikabuum] was founded in 2004, by five young and promising musicians from Sibelius-lukio high school in Helsinki, Finland. All of the five had been making music for a long time, alone and together in different contexts, but until october 2004 none of them had found their true musical nature. When Mykaboom had their first jam together, the outcome was two of Mykaboom's biggest hits, First and Feminine Points of View, that still funk people all over the world. These songs were to start the glorious story of Mykaboom. Mykaboom represents many, many different genres. The musical variety in the band is a resource, which is in use every single time Mykaboom is in a musical conversation. All of the five have a very different, but a uniting music taste, that shapes the band to have a dramatic sound with little hints of each band member's own preferences. Funk, pop, soul, r'n'b, rock, latin rhytms, jazz and disco among others can be heard in Mykaboom's music. That is the Mykaboom sound that's gotten people on the dancefloor since Mykaboom started. It was actually Stina who invented the name. In the song My kaboom, Stina had a line repeating those words in the end of the song. After a striking idea and a little of reproductive conversation, they knew that those two little words could represent themselves and their music like no other words could. |
